About the Online Program
Overview
Earn a Masters Degree (MSc or MEng) online in 2 years with part time or full time course schedule. Earn 25 graduate-level credits with 4 core courses on Space Physics, Satellite Payload Engineering, and Planetary Sciences & Atmospheres. Develop and test code for cubesats, missions on-orbit, R&D, GNC, and Payload Operations to operate spacecraft, ground, and aerospace vehicles. Concentrate track of interest with research, thesis and electives. Advance R&D and work with Faculty Advisor on a Thesis track (6CR) optional to culminate in thesis presented defended to earn your Masters Degree.
Core Curriculum
1. Satellite Build Engineering (SBE521) or Payload Engineering & Software (PES522)
Design, build, and operate a spacecraft beyond Earth orbit. Learn physics of space, orbit maneuvering, Coding for Space, GNC, Microcontrollers, and more. The online course immerses participants in a research intensive course to build, assemble a cubesat. Engage in discussions on applying to R&D, sensor fusion integration, experiments, software, & systems.
2. Space Physics and Astrophysics (SPA-523)
Course provides certificate on APRA and Foundations of Astronomical Data Science. Learn how to apply and analyze astrophysics data with models, lensing, gravity, astronomy tools online, software Platforms. Apply knowledge and data advance R&D projects and planets, asteroids, satellites, stars, and more.
3. Coding 4 Space (C4S-524), Software
Learn about the past, present and future of programming for spacecraft and systems to help develop space-related projects. Develop and test code for cubesats, missions, R&D, GNC, and aerospace in preferred Programming language. Apply algorithms and interface with systems PCB motherboards, CPU, hardware and more.
4. Planetary Sciences & Engineering (PSE-525)
Learn about how to apply skills and advance engineering, technologies, organisms, planetary science, and materials involved in sustaining a settlement on Luna and Mars. Learn how ISRU settlement systems,3D printing, agriculture, softwares, and more interfaces with human and machine operations to advance space exploration.
Timeline & Course Offerings

* This schedule is planned course offerings. Elective courses and Research Thesis may be taken independently and Elective Credits may be transferred in. Consult Advisor or Faculty to confirm Electives and Schedule.
Elective Courses
Elective Courses may include:
1. Aerospace/Astronautical Engineering,Space Systems and/or Electrical Engineering (3-6CR)
2. Guidance, Navigation, Control (GNC) and/or Orbital Mechanics (3-6CR)
3.MSc Thesis/Independent Study (3-6CR)
4.Teaching Graduate Instruction (1-3CR)

Up to 12-15 credits (3-5 graduate courses) are transferrable to satisfy Elective Course requirements after applying for Transfer Credits in Online Portal. MSc program is more research-oriented vs MEng which typically has more engineering courses with industry.GPA of3.0 is expected to be maintained in MSc/MEng Program.

Master's Thesis
Advance R&D with MSc-Thesis which typically requires 6 CR of research, under the supervision of an advisor, faculty and culminates in a written thesis, that is presented and defended in a public forum.4-6 weeks prior to defense date and thesis committee review. Non-thesis MSc/MEng tracks are possible, if additional elective credits satisfy degree requirements. MSc/MEng Candidates are encouraged to publish R&D in journal(s) and conferences with additional input/advising.
